A Little More About Us

YOU BELONG HERE

Welcome to 19th Avenue Yoga! You may have thought yoga was out of your reach. When you heard the word 'yoga,' the voice inside your head said, "I'm not flexible enough. I'm not fit enough. I won't look good in tights. I've never been athletic. It's a little too woo-woo for me. It doesn't fit in my particular religious expression."

At 19th Avenue Yoga, you will discover that yoga is for you. You belong here. We take a wholistic approach to the practice of yoga. It is not a religion, but it is a practice employed by people of all or no religion. It is not necessarily a fitness regimen, although our gentle approach to giving attention to your body will benefit your physical health. It is certainly not a fashion show. While yoga attire has become part of many people's wardrobes, our participants wear what is comfortable to them - shorts, tights, sweats, etc. - and there are no mirrors where we practice.

At 19th Avenue Yoga, beginners and long-time yogis find a comfortable, safe space to take a break from the busyness of life and focus on self care. Each session integrates movement, breath, mindfulness and meditation in order to refresh the whole person.

All classes and offerings are free and you do not need to make a reservation. Mats, blankets, straps, blocks, and any other equipment needed are provided for you. Privately funded and hosted by the generosity of 19th Avenue Baptist Church, we want to ensure that the pressures of economics do not keep anyone from experiencing their best health.

Come and join us for a class. Just show up. If it's your first time, you will find the guidance to be easily understood and followed. You will find...you belong here.
