FAQ

Answers to Everyday Inquiries

Our FAQs were designed to answer the most common inquiries. If you don’t manage to find exactly what you’re looking for, don’t hesitate to get in touch. We are here to answer all of your questions.

WHICH OF YOUR CLASSES IS BEST SUITED FOR ME?

All classes are oriented toward both the beginner and the
regular practitioner. If it is your first yoga class, you will be comfortable. If you've practiced for a lifetime, you'll enjoy the benefits. Come and try each class. Find the form(s) of practice that suit your needs.

ARE CLASSES REALLY FREE?

Yes. All classes are free to the public. In these post-pandemic days, many have sensed a need for renewed connection, community, and release of stress. 19th Avenue Baptist Church has chosen to gift the San Francisco community with free access to yoga - a wonderful practice that offers all these benefits. The church fully funds instructor fees, space, and equipment. You simply come and enjoy.

DO I HAVE TO BE A MEMBER OF THE CHURCH TO PRACTICE?

Absolutely not. This is the church's unconditional gift to the community. While there is an open invitation for any and all to attend and enjoy the church, the church does not require any adherence to membership, faith practice, or religious expression. As stated, the church simply provides space, instruction, and equipment as a gift to the community.

DO I HAVE TO BRING MY OWN MAT OR OTHER EQUIPMENT?

Some people choose to bring their personal mat and equipment to practice. 19th Avenue Yoga provides mats, blankets, blocks, and straps for yoga practice. All equipment is regularly cleaned and sanitized. You do not need to bring anything to the practice.

WILL OTHER CLASSES AND TIMES BE ADDED?

Yes. These are the beginning days of 19th Avenue Yoga. If there is a particular class or time that makes sense to you and your schedule, please let us know. We are already contemplating the expansion of our offerings.

WE LIVE IN SAN FRANCISCO...IS THERE PARKING?

YES!!! We have several 'white spaces' in front of the building that are accessible to us, as well as,  a parking lot behind the building! (The alley to the parking lot is narrow...but passable.)

ARE YOUR CLASSES TRAUMA INFORMED?

Yes. Anyone teaching yoga at 19th Avenue Yoga will be a trauma informed instructor. If you live with trauma, anxiety, or related issues, you will find 19th Avenue Yoga to be a safe and healthy place to continue on your path of recovery.

ARE CLASSES ONLINE?

All classes are in-person. Currently classes are not available online.
